"Dawn is wonderful," says Marc Stopeck, Wednesday Journal's Advertising Manager, "She's smart, professional and has a great work ethic. Her clients love her. She absolutely deserved this honor."
Sharman Galezewski, an Oak Park resident who teaches at Jane Addams Elementary School in Palatine, has been selected as an NEH Summer Scholar from a national applicant pool to attend one of fifteen NEH Landmarks of American History and Culture Workshops.
The Oak Park Writers Group has announced the 2012 winners of its Second Annual High School Creative Prose and Poetry Competition for students enrolled at Trinity, Fenwick, and Oak Park and River Forest high schools. This year all of the winners are Oak Park and River Forest High School students.
Internet skills have become essential to participating in an increasingly digital world. But special education teachers at Oak Park and River Forest High School saw a growing digital divide between students with and without disabilities and decided to do something about it. They applied for, and won, a grant to help close the growing digital learning gap between their special education students and peers without disabilities.

Oak Park resident and host of NPR's "Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!" Peter Sagal, along with a crew from Insignia Films, visited Dominican University to film scenes for an upcoming documentary on the Constitution, set to air on Public Television next year.
We had a great time, with over 250 in attendance! Our USO inspired dance and show was titled "Star Spangled Salute." The The big band sounds of the Dick Elliot Orchestra enlivened the crowd with the music of Glen Miller, Tommy Doresy.
Vanguard West Suburban Medical Center was honored with an "A" Hospital Safety ScoreSM by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits. West Suburban Medical Center received the top grade based on levels of infections, injuries and medical and medication errors. Fewer than half of the hospitals in the Chicagoland area received an "A" rating.
Pro Musica Youth Chorus was proud to participate with members and fans of the Oak Park Youth Baseball/Softball league at the White Sox game on June 6, 2012. Members of the chorus started off the game by singing the national anthems of both the United States and Canada (in recognition of the visiting team, the Toronto Blue Jays).
