Oak Park and River Forest High School hosts its 12th annual Black Professionals Day on Wednesday Feb. 22. Students hear from business people, media professionals and other guest speakers during the morning to afternoon sessions.
Parent group APPLE hosts its first meeting of the school year on Tuesday Feb. 7, coinciding with start of Black History Month. Invited guests and speakers include educators and elected officials, as well as health, legal and business professionals.
A new state law will change how state school report cards are presented to the public. Along with reporting standardized test results, report cards will now be required to include information on students’ overall progress and their school environment.
