Ken Trainor's column in last Wednesday's issue of the Wednesday Journal which was critical of my blog in which I said thatI couldn't attend the Community Thanksgiving Service gave me a chance to struggle with why I couldn't participate. This posting is part of an ongoing conversation Ken and I have about religion and faith.
The Occupy Chicago protestors emphasize justice for all while the religious right focus on liberty for all. Ideally, the two should be held in a creative, dialectical tension. The reason I sympathize with the Occupy Chicago people is because right now I think our society leans too far away from justice and too far towards freedom.
