Local artist Mike Riley has an oil painting, titled, "Community Pool," on display in the window of Paul Hamer's Frame Warehouse on Harrison Street. The painting features Rehm Park in full, glorious summer (roughly 2009, when his daughter would swim there). But it took him until 2014 to finish the painting.
Chris Ware can do more than just illustrate. The Oak Park resident and author/illustrator of Building Stories was one of numerous contributors in the New York Times Book Review section last Sunday, answering the Valentine's Day-inspired question, "What has literature taught you about love?"
Cookies are my favorite dessert/snack. I am not, however, a snob about cookies. They don't have to be made with fancy-pants ingredients, rare chocolate, whatever. I just like a good cookie and, alas, Girl Scout cookies are not that good.
As you may be aware, the District 90 website has been inaccessible since Friday due to a problem at the hosting company's site, which is out of state.
