Fall workshops at the Conservatory

The Oak Park Conservatory offers a variety of workshops and seminars during the fall including composting, houseplants for beginners, flower arranging and preparing a garden for winter. Visit www.oakparkparks.com for more information.

Earn extra money renting that extra parking space

Any resident who has an off-street parking space they would like to rent is urged to e-mail parking@oak-park.us. The Village will share the information with other residents who need a place to park. To add a space to the list, provide your name, street address, contact information, parking space description (garage/outdoor) desired monthly rent and availability (24 hour/day/night). Generally, spaces rent for $40 - $75 per month. The Village does not manage the private spaces or negotiate fees but only helps private parties make contact and asks for notice when a space is no longer available. Click here for more information.

Funds available to help improve home energy efficiency

Homeowners in Oak Park are eligible for a program that helps pay for upgrades to cut heating and cooling costs by improving energy efficiency. Property owners pay $99 for an energy assessment to identify energy saving upgrades and then Energy Impact Illinois will pay a portion of the cost for the upgrades – as much as $1,750. Officials say homeowners can save an average of $500 per year on their energy bills after upgrading through the program. For more information on the program, call Pamela Brookstein at 708.252.0623 or email pamela@energyimpactillinois.org.
