Public invited to comment on proposed building code changes
Property owners and managers, contractors, design professionals and the general public are invited to review and comment on proposed changes to building and property codes that likely will be considered by the Village Board prior to the end of the year. Open-house style public forums are scheduled for 1 – 5 p.m., Tues., Sept. 11 and 5:30 – 8 p.m., Thurs., Sept. 13 at Village Hall, 123 Madison St. The proposed local amendments, along with an overview of the changes, are posted online at www.oak-park.us/codeamendments. 2013 budget recommendations posted online
The proposed 2013 Village budget is available for review online at www.oak-park.us/finance – just click on the budget book icon. Residents also can offer revenue-enhancing and cost-saving suggestions via a digital suggestion box link on the same page. The Village Board will discuss the budget proposal during meetings throughout September and October, with adoption expected in November. Village Board meeting agendas are posted at www.oak-park.us/agendas.
Free small business seminar set
A free workshop covering the basic financial concepts needed to run a small business is scheduled for 8:30 a.m., Mon., Sept. 10 at Village Hall, 123 Madison St. The workshop, entitled Mastering Cash Flow and Profit, will review accounting, cash flow forecasts, financial statements, business startup costs and the importance of keeping good records. The seminar will be presented by Chris Amundson of Accounting Solutions Ltd.
