Tom Miller recently contacted the Oak Park-River Forest Food Pantry to let them know he would be making a large donation. Miller, an Oak Park resident, owns a farm in Michigan. He had an extra field this growing season and rather than letting it go to waste, planted a crop of potatoes specifically to donate to the pantry.
Pantry Manager Paula Berg said, "Tom planted, cultivated, harvested and transported these potatoes for food pantry clients. Talk about going the extra mile."
He delivered the potatoes on Aug. 5. Fresh potatoes were available to pantry clients at the August 7 and 10 food distributions.
