Who: Downtown Oak Park independent retailer CarefulPeach Boutique accompanied by an assortment of local friends and artisanal good purveyors, including representatives from Dinky Donuts, Sugar Beet Co-Op, and the Oak Park River Forest High School Music Department in a fundraising effort for The Children's School.
What: Enjoy live music, in-store discounts, free samples of delicious homemade donuts, and so much more at CarefulPeach Boutique's "Oak Parklandia: It's All About Local", taking place this Saturday in Downtown Oak Park! This fun, unique event celebrating all things lovely and local is free for all ages. The band, comprised of students from OPRF High School, will be playing lively jazz tunes from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., while representatives from Dinky Donuts will be dishing up samples of fresh, homemade donuts (made using healthier alternative soy shortening, which has no trans fats and lowered saturated fats) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Speak with representatives from Oak Park's food cooperative in development, Sugar Beet Co-Op, and enjoy 15% off all in-stock Peach merchandise for the day (store hours 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.). A portion of the day's proceeds will go to The Children's School, a local non-profit elementary school with a progressive teaching philosophy.
Where: 1024 North Blvd. in Oak Park. Downtown Oak Park is located just 10 miles west of Chicago's Loop off the CTA Green Line's Harlem stop. Metered, street, garage, and lot parking is available (free after 6 pm).
When: Saturday, Sept. 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Store hours 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Music from 12 pm to 3 pm. Donuts from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
