Fall officially starts Saturday. That means Down Town Oak Park is bringing back Oaktoberfest to start the season with hops, skips and jumps.
The event starts Friday, Sept. 20, from 4 to 10 p.m. and continues from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, on Marion Street and North Boulevard. This year's event marks the 22nd year for the festive tradition, which includes a live music lineup, seasonal food items from local restaurants, microbrews and a root beer garden.
A variety of wines and microbrews will be offered and will be served by volunteer pourers who will be on hand to collect tips for nonprofits in the area.
The root beer garden features a family activity area on Marion Street, Saturday, from noon to 5 p.m. Zucchini racing offers the chance for kids to create and race their own veggie cars. The kids' area will also feature karaoke, root beer floats, games, and other activities.
