By Ken Trainor
Susan Warner and her husband, Dave Griffin, are Oak Park residents and full-time musicians in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Lyric Opera respectively. They have organized a concert, which will take place this Sunday, Sept. 15 at Unity Temple, 875 Lake St., at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at www.concertforcaring.kintera.org
Their inspiration for this event? In 2008 they adopted their daughter, Pearl, from China. The concert is co-sponsored by the CSO and Citizen Musician, an initiative founded by cellist Yo Yo Ma, which awarded a grant to fund the costs of the concert. All proceeds will benefit Hephzibah Home in Oak Park and Grace & Hope for Children, a U.S. nonprofit aiding orphans in China.
They're billing it as "a night of love and hope for children near and far."
