Nail Salons Are An Oak Park Growth Industry

Yet another nail salon has opened in my neighborhood just south of the Oak Park CTA Blue Line Stop. Marsha just made the decision to stop getting her nais done after driving to an Elmwood Park shop for twenty years.

I don't understand why women get their nails done. It's expensive--way more than my 12 dollar haircut from Supercuts. Marsha had to go every two weeks without fail. It was like being addicted to drugs. Because she worked she'd go at 630 in the morning. Weird.

I assume women get their nails done to enhance their physical appearance. Speaking for men I feel pretty certain that a women's nails are  not even on the list --The Top 10 Women's Body Parts Men Look At. Also, I don't think it's a good idea to have a process done where the practioner wears a mask, but the customer doesn't. Now Marsha's lady used the good chemicals, not the ones from the New Jersey dump site. That was a relief.

So there is an expensive unhealthy inconvenient time-consuming process that enhances your beauty in a way that 50% of the population doesn't even notice. I just don't get it.  Maybe it's rooted in evolutionary DNA. Cro-Magnon woman needed claws to fend off rivals and hold on to her man, or kill sabertooth tigers in order to protect her young. Now it makes sense.

John - Sometimes, just sometimes, the things that women do to enhance their physical appearance have no connection to whether men will be compelled to look at them. Also, you know what they say about "assuming" things.

My nails look way better than your haircut, even though they cost the same price--but I tip. I am glad that men don't look at my nails. I don't get them done to please you, or anyone else but myself.
