Law-Abiding Oak Park Parkers Hurting Budget

By John Hubbuch
The village has collected about $434,000 less than expected in parking fines through the first six months of the year. I am worried that we will not have enough money to pay for snow removal if we have a bad winter. That is why I am asking Oak Parkers to not put any money in any meters for the month of September, or at least linger a little longer in our shops and restaurants. I am hopeful that the spike in parking fines will put a significant dent in the budget.
On a related front I am concerned that our wonderful library could be running behind in revenue, and would therefore make a similiar request to not return books on time thereby incurring fines that will insure the financial stability of the library. Good books should be read twice. Don't skip the boring parts. Whatever you do don't return the books on time. We need your inattentiveness. Thank you.
