Information from Seven Generations Ahead press release
The fourth Annual Oak Park Microbrew Review is quickly approaching. Produced by Oak Park based Seven Generations Ahead and the Illinois Craft Brewer's Guild and in collaboration with the Downtown Oak Park association, the Brew Review will be from 3-7 p.m. in downtown Oak Park on Marion Street, between Lake St. and North Blvd.
At the event, over 90 craft beers from more than 30 Midwest based micro breweries will be available for tasting. Micro breweries like Half Acre Beer Co., Haymarket Pub and Brewery, Founders' Brewing Company, Revolution Brewing and Wild Onion Brewing Company.
Also noteworthy is the event's unveiling of this year's "Replicale" project beers. "This exciting annual project features a different beer style brewed by 15 or more Illinois brewers to showcase the nuances in brewing technique and system design," explains the press release. The style being featured this year is American Belgo Pale Ale.
But everyone knows that an event featuring beer wouldn't be complete without some good food and music. The Chicalba Bagpipers will kick off the event's musical offerings followed by other local bands such as The Greydowns and Buckman Page as well as DJ D Brice.
To accompany that wonderful beer you're sipping, Oak Park's Barclay's American Grille, Winberrie's, Mancini's, The Perfect Dinner, Khyber Pass, Marion Street Cheese Market and Chicago based Gourmet Gorilla will all have delectable offerings.
When you've had your fill of food and drink, you can head over to the Sustainable Practices Pavilion, sponsored by Seven Generations Ahead and Whole Foods Market, to discuss healthy eating and take a look inside the Truck Farm (a farm in the bed of a pickup truck). More importantly, you can learn about the event's approaches to drastically reducing waste, such as using reusable tasting glasses, serving ware that is composted, and carting food residuals to a licensed composting facility.
The event anticipates as many as 3,000 attendees so get your tickets now. Prices range from $35-$75 and include pre-event sampling times. The Master's Choice VIP Ticket has a beer tasting and food sampling from Marion Street Cheese Market; and the Crafter's Choice ticket offers early access to the Replicale beers. Tickets can be purchased from the website www.sevengenerationsahead.org and proceeds will support the organization's non-profit work to "build healthy, environmentally sustainable communities.
After the main street event, the Marion Street Cheese Market is hosting an official Post-Event Party at 7:00 p.m. with live music, brew master tales and more food and beer available to purchase.
