Kids and teens can get super crafty at the River Forest Library this summer. There will be several new and interesting programs.
Ever wanted to try your hand at crochet? Beth Kirchenberg, the library's new middle school and teen librarian, will share her crochet skills in 4 sessions of "Super Stitches Crochet" for grades 5 and up (6/11, 6/18, 6/25 & 7/2). The theme will be cute critters and should be a hoot. No experience is necessary.
Learn how to craft that perfect zombie wound or those cute anime eyes in "How Do You? Costume Makeup" on Wednesday, June 17 at 7 PM for grades 5+. It's never too early to think about your Halloween look.
Do you love comic books? Then you'll have a great time at "Comic Book Creations" for grades 4-8 on June 18 from 3-5 PM. Up-cycle old comic books and make buttons, magnets, bracelets and more. On June 19 at 3 PM, you can make comic book hair clips (grades 5 and up). And on July 22 from 3-4 PM, there will be a comic book workshop for Grades 2-5.
Have fun with t-shirt on June 30 at 7 PM. Kids in Grades 6 can bring in a dark pre-washed t-shirt to "Style Science". You'll be able to emblazon your favorite character on a it using science. On July 21 from 3-5 PM, kids can try making "supernova" T-shirts.
Get super squeaky clean on July 14 (3-4:30 PM) while making superhero inspired soaps, make pop art portraits on July 28 (7-8:30 PM), and create works of art at "crafty crayons" on July 29 (3-5 PM).
