Girls youth softball tourney sure to be a hit

Female athletes will soon descend on softball diamonds throughout Oak Park as the second annual Oak Park Falcons Invitational Tournament is set to run July 6 through July 8.

Falcon Fest — as it's been labeled — will consist of eight 10U and eight 12U softball teams competing in their respective divisions over three days in pool play format. The tournament will consist of double bracket, single elimination play.

Games will be played at Concordia University, Fenwick High School's Priory Field, and Field Park in Oak Park.

Teams participating in 10U include the Barrington Mustangs, Elmwood Park Lady Tigers, Geneva Foxes, Hiawatha All-Stars, Oak Park Falcons, River Forest All-Stars, St. Charles Comets and Winfield Wolverines. The 12U teams include the Homer Fire, Melrose Park Devils, North Riverside Black Widows, Oak Park Falcons (Black), Oak Park Falcons (Green), River Forest All-Stars, Warrenville Whirlwinds, and Wood Dale/Bensenville All-Stars.
