Something funny's going on at the Oak Park Public Library in July. Something that could teach this article a thing or two.
See, this article could stand to be funnier. It could really benefit from an upcoming humor-writing workshop at the Main Library.
So don't be like this article, unfunny and dry. Write with humor and wit! Attend "A Liar's Workshop: Learn Humor Writing Techniques" on July 1 and 8, from 7 to 9 pm.
The free two-part series is taught by Debra Schwartz, a writing instructor at Arizona State University.
"In the Humor Writing Workshop, we'll play with each of the five easy-to-use humor writing techniques," Schwartz says. "Why come plain when you can come fancy? Join us. We'll have so much fun!"
Schwartz, a veteran journalist, also has written about humor for encyclopedias. If she can inject a little humor into reference works, imagine what she can do for the rest of us.
