Free Summer Concert: The Velvet Jimis

Sunday, June 24, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Scoville Park: 

Stroll down to the park for family-friendly music. This week, groove to an Oak Park band playing rock, blues and soul. Runs weekly through August 19. To help make this a waste-free event, use stations set up during the concerts for composting and recycling. Northwest corner of Lake and Oak Park Ave., Oak Park.

 

25th Annual Garden Walk

Be wowed by eight Oak Park and River Forest gardens on self-guided tours. Put on by the Garden Club of Oak Park-River Forest and the Friends of the Oak Park Conservatory. Patriotic Pops Concert and Ice Cream Social

Saturday, June 23, 6:30 p.m., Addison Hall Lawn, Concordia University Chicago:  

Enjoy the University Band playing timeless music, featuring vocalist Keanon Kyles, including, "God Bless America," "Seventy-Six Trombones," a tribute to Leonard Bernstein, and excerpts from Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and "I Got Plenty o' Nuttin'" from Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess." Hear interesting facts on each piece. Then join the patriotic sing-along to salute our armed forces. Free. Rain location - Werner Auditorium. Doors open at 5:30. Ice cream, boxed meals available.
