Oak Park novelist Elizabeth Berg held her first “Writing Matters” evening on June 14, featuring East Coast writer Leah Hager Cohen at the Oak Park Arts Center and 68 people turned out [Elizabeth Berg presents …, LifeLines, June 11]. Berg, who is donating all the proceeds above her costs for library books to schools in the inner city, said they were able to give Magic Tree Bookstore $300 to buy books for a school library in need. Berg said she feels her experimental writers series is launched. Look for the next event in September.
