OPRF grad Jeff Mauro, more famously known around these parts as "The Sandwich King," won $3,500 for the Oak Park non-profit Hephzibah Children's Association as a contestant on Guy Fieri's Food Network Show "Guy's Grocery Games" earlier this month.
"The children loved watching because he showed the house and also mentioned our name several times," said Hephzibah Executive Director Mary Anne Brown.
The Food Network star and local chef extraordinaire, who grew up in River Forest, will compete in two more cooking competitions this summer and plans to visit the children's shelter to invent a "Hephzibah hero sandwich," said Brown.
