Talent, tradition and titles summarizes the OPRF High School baseball program. And coaches like Chris Ledbetter and Jack Kaiser also helped a little along the way.
Talent ensures tradition and wins titles.
For a measure of that talent, check out the recent Major League Baseball draft. Former OPRF outfielder Andrew Godbold (Class of 2010) was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 23rd round and OPRF pitcher/infielder Keith Rogalla, who graduated this June, was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 37th round.
Godbold hit .349 with nine home runs and 10 doubles in 63 games this season for Southeastern Louisiana University. The hard-throwing Rogalla, 18, has committed to Creighton but will meet with the Phillies this week. Talk about options!
Rogalla's older brother, Jack, another former OPRF star, has flourished as a pitcher at Binghamton University and may well be a future MLB draft pick.
Meanwhile, OPRF sophomore shortstop/outfielder Jeremy Gaines recently gave a verbal commitment to the University of Missouri.
As OPRF football coach John Hoerster likes to say, "It's a great day to be a Huskie."
