The heat is on! Are you ready to taste Berwyn's Best Burger? While the hamburger owes its name to the city of Hamburg in Germany, the beloved sandwich has become a culinary icon in the United States. The hamburger is one of the world's most popular foods, with more than 50 billion served up annually in the United States alone. In preparation for National Hamburger Day on May 28, a day set aside to honor this classic sandwich, we're calling on you to vote for your favorites and help whittle the pool down to Berwyn's Top 5 Best. Whether you like it topped with cheese, loaded with veggies or just more meat, there's a burger on this list that's just for you.

Berwyn's Best Burger Contest takes place in two rounds. Round 1 includes Berwyn-based restaurants that agreed to take part in the contest. Establishments must offer burgers on their menus and include the following:

• Culver's | 6943 W Roosevelt Rd
• Jelly Jam Restaurant and Pancake House | 3205 S Harlem Ave
• LongHorn Steakhouse | 7115 W Cermak Rd
• Paisans Pizzeria & Bar | 6226 W Ogden Ave
• Parrilla Express | 6401 W 34th St
• Slice Factory | 6920 W Ogden Ave
• The Garage Smokehouse & Bar | 3202 S Grove Ave
Round 1 is a multiple choice poll that asks the public to select up to five of their favorite Berwyn burgers. The poll is open until Mon., May 16 at 5:00 p.m. The five most popular businesses advance to the second round. In Round 2, the Top 5 will identify their favorite specialty burgers that will be used in a second round of voting. Round 2 will bring together a group of local judges for a single taste-test event to compare each burger side-by-side. Their scores along with another public poll vote will determine the burger that can proclaim itself as "Berwyn's Best."
