The annual GALA July 4 presented by the Great American Light Show Association (GALA), the local nonprofit group organized to present the annual Independence Day celebration in Oak Park. GALA is a community-wide collaborative effort that includes representatives from the Park District of Oak Park, Community Bank of Oak Park River Forest, Oak Park and River Forest High School, the Oak Park Police Department and the Oak Park Fire Department. Community Bank of Oak Park River Forest is the presenting 4th sponsor of the GALA July 4th Fireworks Show for the fourteenth consecutive year.
The fireworks show will begin at dusk on Thursday, July 4 at the Oak Park and River Forest High School stadium near the intersection of Lake St. and Linden Ave. The address for Oak Park and River Forest High School is 201 N. Scoville, Oak Park, IL. The fireworks show is open to the public and free of charge. Limited street parking is available, and two Village parking structures are accessible with one at Lake St. and Forest Ave. and another located at North Blvd. and Oak Park Ave. Approximately 25,000 spectators attend the fireworks show annually. In the case of a postponement due to inclement weather the fireworks show will be held Friday, July 5.

It is truly a community event with thousands watching," said Walter F. Healy, president, Community Bank. The fireworks grand finale is underwritten by the Wednesday Journal.
During its sixteen year history, Community Bank has undertaken the sponsorship of many community-wide events and has donated over $2 million to various local civic and charitable organizations. Community Bank of Oak Park River Forest was organized in 1996 as a locally owned bank focused on creating financial solutions for individuals, professionals, owners of closely-held businesses and nonprofit organizations in the Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park communities.
Community Bank, which had assets of $300 million as of December 31, 2012, has two locations: 1001 Lake Street, Oak Park and 7777 Lake Street, River Forest.
