Parenthesis Family Center would like to express our deep appreciation to all the individuals, local businesses, and sponsors that helped make our 27th Annual Kitchen Walk a huge success. We are especially grateful to the 10 homeowners who opened up their kitchens to over 700 visitors on a very busy spring weekend. This event could not happen without the 70 volunteers who worked as house coordinators and hosts.
In addition to seeing 10 newly-remodeled and innovative kitchens, attendees were treated to an on-site cooking demonstration with samples provided by Chef Denise Norton of Flavour Cooking School and a delicious cheese-tasting stop set up by Oak Park's Marion Street Cheese Market. Each kitchen was adorned with floral art designs provided by Moss Modern Flowers in Forest Park. We are very grateful to them and our other generous sponsors: Marvin Windows & Doors, Pioneer Press, Sub Zero/Wolf, The Wednesday Journal, Community Bank of Oak Park and River Forest, The Oak Park Women's Guild, and Holley Court Terrace in Oak Park.
Congratulations to homeowners Julie and John Hendricks of River Forest, whose kitchen was voted "Best in Show" by the Kitchen Walk attendees. The Hendricks' kitchen was designed by Rebekah Zaveloff, owner of Kitchen Lab, LLC in Chicago. We congratulate and thank Rebekah and all of our participating design professionals for submitting 10 exquisite projects. You are the reason our attendees come back to enjoy this event year after year.
Funds raised by the Kitchen Walk allow Parenthesis to develop programs which strengthen family bonds and facilitate the development of parents and their young children. On behalf of Parenthesis Family center and the clients whom we serve, we thank you for your continued support. See you in 2013!
