Now in its third year, Ben-A-Fit, an annual fundraiser created by proud parent and Aspire board member, Marc Adelman, is being held on Saturday, June 2nd from 2 - 6 p.m. at La Majada Restaurant celebrating the success of new Aspire participant, Mickey Catrambone.

If you are unfamiliar with Aspire's good work, here's what Erik Johnson, VP for Advancement at Aspire has to say:

From infants to seniors, Aspire serves people with disabilities across their lifetimes. We offer a comprehensive array of support for individuals with developmental disabilities. We assist more than 1,000 children and adults each year with services focused on achieving potential and independence. Aspire is recognized throughout Illinois for our dedicated team of 250 staff who provide personalized services at 22 locations in the western suburbs.

Meet Mickey Catrambone, Aspire's 2012 Honoree

In the past two years, Mickey landed a new job, moved out of the family home, and is living more independently.

To see if Aspire was the place for him, Mickey began working at Aspire Industries. Aspire staff say he enters Aspire Industries with a smile on his face and is proud to earn a paycheck! Two months after starting his job, he moved into a community home where he has thrived.

Living in an Aspire community home, he has learned to do things for himself. And he likes it! He learned how to dust furniture, take care of his room, care for his clothing, and clear his place after eating. He enjoys going to the store and movies and dining out.

His new goal is to learn how to call his brother Greg and sisters on the phone. His brother notes, "How proud mom and dad would be that Mickey is leading a full life, yet still needs and receives the support of his family.

Come out to celebrate Mickey Catrambone, eat great food, drink and enjoy live music at La Majada in Oak Park. Tickets are $40 for adults which includes a t-shirt, one drink ticket, entertainment by Spakl and Liquidated Damages, an appetizer buffet and chances to win several prizes. Tickets for kids 16 and under are $15 and children under five are free. All proceeds support Aspire's employment and community residential services for adults with disabilities.
