Village Hall closed Monday

Village Hall, 123 Madison St., will be closed on Mon., May 27, in observance of Memorial Day. Should an incident that doesn't quite rise to the level of a 9-1-1 emergency occur when Village Hall is closed, call the Police Department non-emergency number 708.386.3800 for assistance. Farmers' Market in full swing

The Oak Park Farmers' Market is open for business from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. every Saturday through October. Now in its 38th season, the market is held in the Pilgrim Church parking lot just west of the intersection of Lake Street and Ridgeland Avenue. A majority of the vendors now accept credit/debit cards as well as Link cards. Go Green this Saturday with sustainability focused activities. Recycle electronics Saturday

With the state banning most electronic items from landfills, recycle them from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., Sat., May 25 at the Public Works Center, 201 South Blvd. Most electronics and related items are accepted, including computers, peripherals, laptops, monitors, TVs, cell phones, rechargeable batteries, printers, fax machines, MP3 players, portable digital assistants, video game consoles, video cassette recorders, digital video disk players, zip drives, scanners and microwaves. Report violations of no-smoking rules

Smoking is prohibited by state and local laws in virtually all public and work places, including offices, theaters, museums, libraries, educational institutions, schools, commercial establishments, enclosed shopping centers, retail stores, restaurants, bars, private clubs and gaming facilities. Anyone observing someone smoking in an enclosed public location is urged to call 708.358.5489. Callers should provide their name, telephone number and address, as well as the location where the person was observed smoking. For more information, e-mail health@oak-park.us.
