Picture one thousand golf balls falling from a helicopter while the crowd cheers. To the members of the Oak Park River Forest Infant Welfare Society's, these pock-marked orbs look like money raining down. The golf ball drop is the climax of the Oak Park River Forest Infant Welfare Society's annual Tee It Up Fore Kids Golf Classic, a fundraiser for the IWS' Children's Clinic. "It's exciting to see the helicopter come into view and watch thousands of golf balls fall onto the putting green," stated Event Chair Brett Samuels, "because every ball represents more funds for the Clinic.
The IWS Children's Clinic at 320 Lake Street in Oak Park provides medical, dental, and behavioral health services to more than 3,000 low income children from over 50 communities in west suburban Cook County and the City of Chicago. The clinic supports over 10,000 patient visits annually.
The 2013 Tee It Up Fore Kids Golf Classic will be held on June 17, 2013, at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont, Illinois. The event includes eighteen holes of championship golf, prizes, a19th hole reception sponsored by Down Law Office, with the grand finale of the helicopter golf balls drop. "The event is for everyone – even those who don't golf," Samuels said, "We are looking for people to participate as sponsors and players but people can also join us for the evening reception or simply join in the fun by buying a golf ball for a chance to get closest to the pin."
