Guardian Angels offer self-defense course for women in Oak Park

The Chicago Guardian Angels are taking extra steps to keep Oak Parkers safe in the wake of a recent string of attacks on women. 

On Saturday, May 14, the Guardian Angels will provide a free self-defense course for women 16 and up. The seminar will teach basic techniques for survival and self-protection.

The Guardian Angels are a group of citizen volunteers who dedicate their time to maintaining public safety. They been patrolling the Oak Park area and providing escorts for residents, after five different women were grabbed around the neck and robbed while walking in their neighborhoods. 

The self-defense course will be held at the Grace Episcopal Church on Lake beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Women can register for the course by calling 312-217-7245.
