OAK PARK (May 2014)—Dine for a good cause at Cucina Paradiso on Tuesday, May 20th as the restaurant will be donating 15% of all sales to the Rachel G. Smylie Memorial Scholarship, a scholarship established to support students who wish to travel to Tanzania to volunteer their time to help individuals in Africa.

The Rachel G Smylie Memorial Scholarship was founded by the Smylie family in remembrance of their daughter, Rachel Smylie, whose life was taken too soon while studying abroad in Africa this April. Rachel, who was a junior at the University of Michigan, was born and raised in the Oak Park community, and is known for her zest for life and willingness to help others.

No stranger to giving a hand to those in need, Rachel had previously spent a summer in Tanzania when she was just a Junior at Oak Park River Forest High School through a program called The Road Less Traveled. This Chicago organization offers youth the opportunity to participate in mission trips while also broadening their scope of the world.

Inspired by Rachel's life message, Cucina Paradiso is honored to raise money in support of the scholarship, and hopes you can dine with them to celebrate Rachel's life, while also opening the doors for future students continue Rachel's journey.

For those who cannot dine with us, we encourage you to visit the Geography of Hope Website to donate to the Rachel G. Smylie Memorial Scholarship at:
