Volunteers sought

Oak Parkers interested in meeting new people, helping make a difference in the community and learning more about Village government are invited to apply to serve on a volunteer board or commission. Vacancies currently are available for several commissions, including the Farmers' Market and Community Development Citizens Advisory Commission, whose members help the Village Board allocate federal grants. Descriptions and terms of service are available at www.oak-park.us/volunteer or by calling the Village Clerk at 708.358.5670.

Call for artists issued

Aiming to build upon the success of last year's first community sculpture walk, the Public Art Advisory Commission is seeking artists to display their work in the heart of historic downtown Oak Park. Up to 12 sculptures will be displayed on metal pads outdoors from June 2 to Sept. 2. Selected artists will receive a stipend of $1,800 and the Village may choose to purchase one or more pieces. Three pieces of art were purchased at the conclusion of the 2012 Sculpture Walk expanding the growing collection of public art in the community. Guidelines and an application form are posted at www.oak-park.us/sculpturewalk. April 19 is the deadline to apply. For more information, call 708.358.5401, ext. 8778 or e-mail sculpturewalk@oak-park.us.
