West 40 Intermediate Service Center held its Student Citizen of the Year (SCOTY) Awards on Wednesday, Mar. 23. West 40 is a network of education agencies providing support to public schools and districts in the western Cook County suburbs.

West 40 created the SCOTY awards to call attention to the positive accomplishments of students. Each participating school picked a student who shows exemplary academic performance and leadership.

Jocelyn Weisman from Brooks Middle School and Joey Cofsky from Julian Middle School were among this year's SCOTY award recipients. Other D97 recipients were Bethany Luther of Hatch Elementary, Liam Loughran of Whittier, Amaria Brewer of Longfellow, Jaden Himmel of Lincoln, Sophia Cosman of Irving, and Grace Ciacciarelli of Mann.
