A former student on March 8 filed a lawsuit in the Chancery Division of the Cook County Circuit Court against Concordia University in River Forest, alleging the university did not protect him from sexual abuse and assault by his baseball coach.

The action comes two months after former head baseball coach Spiro Lempesis was convicted of criminal sexual assault and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The complaint accuses the university of negligence and failing to protect its student athletes, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Attorneys for plaintiff, Anthony Collaro, did not respond to an interview request.
