Conjunction of Glory

Rough Edges

If you haven't noticed the planetary light show in the western evening skies lately your timing is excellent. Over the past few weeks Venus has been shining brightly just after sunset. Gradually Jupiter has been approaching her and now our two planetary pals are forming an extraordinary conjunction that is at it's peak for the next couple days.  No telescope needed!  I took advantage of the early spring air last night around 8 o'clock.  The pair was lit up like Christmas - and the Pleiades and the Orion Nebula looked pretty good in my binoculars too.

On another note, looking upwards pays off during daytime as well. Over the weekend E and I spotted well over a thousand Sandhill Cranes flying northwards.
