Animal Care League of Oak Park, in partnership with House Rabbit Society, announces Adopt-A-Rescued-Rabbit Month. This month-long celebration of our floppy-eared friends promotes adoption as the best way to obtain these easy-to-care-for companions. This event also highlights the fantastic rabbits available in shelters. Adopters interested in a companion that won't require a walk in record low temperatures can visit adoptable rabbits at Animal Care League, 1011 Garfield. ACL has also planned a special rabbit-focused event on Sunday, February 16, from 12 – 4PM at Petco, 7265 W. Lake St., River Forest. Homeless ACL rabbits will also be featured at that same Petco location throughout the month.
These sweet pets are known to cuddle, entertain, and be great listeners (my what big ears they have!). However, after cats and dogs, they are also the species most often surrendered to animal shelters. Animal Care League's partnership with House Rabbit Society has provided increased awareness advantages to adoption, rather than buying from pet stores or less than reputable sources. ACL's adoptable rabbits benefit from trained staff and volunteers that keep the animals socialized and well cared for. Adoption counselors have also had additional education – a kind of "Bunnies 101" to accommodate the higher volume of inquiries, better assist interested adopters and facilitate "meet and greets."

The Animal Care League is a non-profit corporation dedicated to providing hope and homes for companion animals. It is a limited admission shelter located in Oak Park. We help homeless cats, dogs and small animals by providing them food, shelter, medical attention and love until we can find them a loving home. As a not for profit 501(c)3 organization, we depend on the generosity of our communities to help us meet our goals of finding new homes for as many animals as possible each year.
