The Lake Theatre has extended its run of the Oscar-nominated film Whiplash for a second week after it finished #2 to American Sniper last weekend. The film, about a tyrannical band director who drives his music conservatory students relentlessly to achieve results, has gotten a lot Oscar attention, particularly for J.K. Simmons' performance, which is considered a favorite for Best Supporting Actor. Be warned, though, there is plenty of profanity.

Classic Cinemas' marketing director, Mark Mazrimas, says they've been hearing feedback from viewers about both the quality of the film and the language. But most of the reactions have been positive.

The Lake currently has four of the eight Best Picture nominees currently playing: American Sniper, Imitation Game, Whiplash and Selma. And the other four, Birdman, Boyhood, Grand Budapest Hotel and The Theory of Everything played earlier in the year.
