Grace Lutheran Church, 7300 Division St. in River Forest, invites members of the community to its second Faith Perspectives forum on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on Sunday, March 2, at 2:00 p.m.

The program, titled "The Holy Land: Pathways to Hope," focuses on efforts to advocate for a secure, just peace in this conflict, which is deeply rooted in history and theology. Speakers include Gary Burge, a professor at Wheaton College and author of "Whose Land? Whose Promise? What Christians Are Not Being Told about Israel and the Palestinians." Also on the program is the Rev. Donald Wagner, Program Director for Friends of Sabeel–North America, a Christian ecumenical organization seeking justice and peace in the Holy Land through non-violence and education.

Other perspectives come from Beth Nelson Chase, Vice-President of Bright Stars of Bethlehem, which provides financial support for outreach ministries serving Christian and Muslim Palestinians, and Rebekah Levin of the local Committee for Justice and Peace in Israel and Palestine (CJPIP).  Dan Lehmann, Grace member and editor of The Lutheran, is the moderator.

Grace Lutheran Church's Faith Perspectives forums provide an opportunity for people to come together and explore social problems and public policy issues. The Sunday afternoon seminars, held in late fall and again in late winter, offer expert speakers from varied perspectives. It is the hope of the Grace congregation that acknowledging different viewpoints while recognizing shared values will make it possible for people of faith to have fruitful discussions of difficult, potentially divisive issues. Past Faith Perspectives topics include healthcare in America and immigration reform.
