OPRF Hockey Club skates at Soldier Field

Varsity and junior varsity players from the OPRF Hockey Club skated at Soldier Field as part of the Hockey City Classic on Feb. 9.

The combined team played a scrimmage against Libertyville/Vernon Hills on an NHL regulation-sized rink placed at midfield on the frozen tundra where the Bears play.

Fans and players had the chance to soak in the special setting on a sunny and brisk afternoon. OPRF lost to Libertyville/Vernon Hills 6-3. George Brennan, Brian Mooney and Nick Rorres scored for the Huskies.

The club also recently announced its scholar athletes and 29 players were recognized for outstanding academic achievement, including George Brennan, Daniel Burkett, Brian Cassidy, Luke Cimarusti, Nick DeAlba, Eric DeCaro, Teddy Economos, Matthew Filek, Tyler Haas, Pat Heyboer, Wiley Lauerman, Emery Lehman, Nolan McNally, Chris Montroy, Bryan Mooney, Sam Phifer, Michael Puiszis, Kevin Rogers, Anthony Rorres, Nicholas Rorres, Jason Ruff, Nate Sacks, Matthew Schmidt, Alex Staples, Ian Sutherland, Jack Thompson, Jack Weldon, Jack White and Brian Wilson.
