COURTESY OF MAGIC TREE BOOKSTORE
The Magic Tree Bookstore at 141 N. Oak Park Ave. is helping Books First in collecting books for Beethoven Elementary School in Chicago.
Books First has been collecting books for CPS schools which don't have a library and have a homeless student population of more than 25 percent.
They have already donated thousands of books but so many more are needed. Books with African American characters would be especially appreciated for this school, so Magic Tree decided to get the ball rolling during Black History Month.
Anyone purchasing books for this needy school will receive 10% discount on the donated books. Gently used books can also be dropped off at Magic Tree for donation.
Books can be donated during regular store hours of Monday-Wednesday 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Thursday and Friday 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Saturday 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Teachers, can also use this effort to get their young people involved.
