For the third year in a row, all three River Forest Public School District 90 schools have been awarded a 2010 Academic Excellence Award from the Illinois Board of Education, an honor shared by only 10 percent of public schools across the state.

The three schools that received the award are Lincoln Elementary School, Willard Elementary School, and Roosevelt Middle School.

In order to fulfill the award requirements, each school was required to demonstrate sufficient progress between 2009 and 2010, as specified by the No Child Left Behind incentive. Additionally, 90 percent of students were required to have met or exceeded the state standard in reading and mathematics for the last three years.

Dist. 90 superintendent Dr. Thomas Hagerman said that many individual factors contributed to the accomplishment. “District 90 has an incredibly dedicated and talented staff, enthusiastic students, and a supportive community of families,” he said. “The success of our students truly is a collaborative effort, and I’m proud to see that dedication recognized in this way.”
