Oak Park bros earn trip to Orange Bowl

Daniel and David Green, brothers who were born and raised in Oak Park, are headed to South Florida with their Northern Illinois University football team to compete in the Discover Orange Bowl against Florida State on Jan. 1.  

Daniel Green, 22, is a senior reserve defensive end, while David, 20, is a red-shirt sophomore reserve defensive tackle for the 15th-ranked Huskies (12-1). Both graduated and played football for OPRF High School — Daniel in the class of 2008 and David in 2010. Both were walk-ons at NIU.

This marks the third bowl appearance for Daniel and the first for David.

The brothers' father, Dan Green, Sr., spent 25 years as a director at West Cook YMCA in Oak Park before retiring. He and his wife, Linda, plan on attending the game in Florida.
