First United Church Nursery School has been providing a quality early school experience to children since Fall, 1958. The school has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) since 1986 and recently was visited and received reaccreditation for the next five years. NAEYC accreditation recognizes outstanding Early Childhood programs which meet national standards of quality. The staff of First United were congratulated for outstanding performance across all accreditation criteria.
First United Church Nursery School of Oak Park will hold an open house at 7:30 PM January 15, 2013 in the Church's Centennial Hall, 848 Lake Street, Oak Park.
The evening's program will begin with a presentation of the school's curriculum, program offerings and staff qualifications. The literacy-rich, play-based curriculum at First United supports children's curiosity, creativity, initiative and confidence. Classroom tours and a chance to meet and talk with teachers will follow the formal presentation. Registration applications for Fall, 2013 will be accepted at the conclusion of the evening. Facilities at First United include naturally-lighted classrooms, a full gym and a playground designed as an outdoor classroom.
First United offers a four-day-a-week half-day program for three to five-year-olds in Oak Park and surrounding communities, a two-day-a-week program for two-year-olds and a Lunch Bunch extension to the morning program. Also offered is an afternoon program for children attending kindergarten mornings. Children must be 2, 3, 4, or 5 by September 1, 2013 to enroll.
Children of all races and religions are welcomed at First United. For further information check the school web site at firstunitedschool.com or contact Director, Joan White at (708) 848-4910.
