Thursday, Dec. 14 is the fifth anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre in Newtown, Connecticut. At 9:35 a.m., when the incident took place, the bells of numerous Oak Park churches will toll 26 times for the victims. On the lawn at St. Edmund, Oak Park Avenue and Pleasant Street, the names will be read aloud.

In the evening, the powerful documentary Newtown - What remains after all is lost? Will be shown in the Veterans Room of the Oak Park Public Library, starting at 6:30 p.m., hosted by the Gun Responsibility Advocates. The film's running time is 80 minutes, followed by discussion. Everyone is invited. Free admission.
