Last day to register to vote
Today, Tues., Oct. 9, is the deadline to register to vote in the November election. The deadline applies to new residents, residents who have recently moved and individuals who will be 18 years old by Election Day, Nov. 6. Registration is offered until 5 p.m., today at Village Hall, 123 Madison St., and at the Oak Park Township, 105. S. Oak Park Ave. Two types of identification are required, at least one with the current address. Public invited to comment on draft hazard mitigation plan
Oak Parkers are invited to come to Village Hall tomorrow, Wed., Oct. 10 to learn more about a draft plan to mitigate the impact of a community-wide hazard. Representatives from the Public Works and Public Health departments will be available in an open-house format from 4 – 7 p.m., in Room 101 of Village Hall, 123 Madison St., to answer question about the draft Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan. Annual fall leaf collection begins Monday
Oak Parkers who choose to rake their leaves rather than compost them can take advantage of the Village'sannual fall leaf collection program scheduled for Oct. 15 – Nov. 29. Residents will have seven opportunities to have their leaves picked up this season, but should not rake any leaves into the street until the collection program begins. Once the program is underway, leaves should be raked into the street at least 18 inches from the curb the day before the scheduled pickup dates, which are determined by location as indicated on a map included in the most recent issue of the OP/FYI community newsletter and posted on the Village website.
