On Wednesday, Nov. 13, the Triton College Foundation will honor Oak Park business owner, Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation board member and philanthropist Mary Jo Schuler at the 21st Annual Foundation President's Reception for her contributions.
The foundation aims to serve students, alumni and communities around Triton using the contributions it receives to develop "new programs and services, scholarships and updating Triton's campus operations and facilities to ensure students have the resources to be successful," writes Alicia Roberson, in a press release.
Schuler began working at Triton College, in River Grove, after earning a bachelor's degree in psychology from Kent State University. She worked first as an academic advisor and then as the director of the Minority Transfer Center. She went on to earn a Ph.D. in higher education administration from Saint Louis University.
The Marion Street Cheese Market and Greenline Wheels owner was recognized in 2009 as the Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year by the Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation.
