Oak Parkers Bob Hakes and Bob O'Connor competed in the Illinois State Senior Olympics Track and Field Championships in Springfield last month and came away with plenty of hardware.
O'Connor, 66, won gold in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:11.1. He also earned a silver medal by placing second in the 200-meter run (3:11.1).
Hakes, 77, finished third and took home the bronze in both the 100 (24.1 seconds) and 200-meter (50.1) events.
Both men qualified for next year's Senior Olympics National Championship to be held in Cleveland, Ohio.
