Oak Park, IL – Critically acclaimed New York Times best-selling author John Searles will present the 2013 Annual Barbara Ballinger Lecture at 7:30 pm Friday, Oct.25, at the Oak Park Public Library, 834 Lake St.

Searles is the author of the best-selling novels Boy Still Missing and Strange but True. For 10 years, he has appeared regularly as a book critic on NBC's Today Show and CBS' The Early Show. Searles also is the Editor-at-Large of Cosmopolitan. His essays have been published in The New York Times, Washington Post, Daily Beast and other national publications.
Released this month, Help for the Haunted is his latest book. This riveting, chilling new novel is about what one girl will do to find the truth, and is described as an "unforgettable story of a most unusual family, their deep secrets and their harrowing tragedy."
