Lydia Villanueva-Soto of Tan Travel
Lydia Villanueva-Soto is a Certified Travel Counselor (CTC) and the owner of Oak Park's own brick and mortar travel agency, Tan Travel. The agency has been around since 1984, and was located on S. Marion St. for 20 years. Once Lydia purchased the business in 2007, it was moved to S. Oak Park Ave. This also made her one of the youngest Latina business owners in the Chicagoland area.

Susan Banks of MindBloom Preschool
Located in Austin, but serving all of Chicagoland, MindBloom Preschool of Chicago is a distinguishable and affordable mixture of solid educational values and real world experiences. Founded by Susan Banks (Susan), who is a product of Chicago's Austin neighborhood, MindBloom teaches children ages 2-5 HOW to learn and provides them with access to education that WORKS, regardless of who they are or where they live.

 

AltCare brings laser treatment to Oak Park
"There are some ailments that just resist treatment", says Dr. Cheryl Haugh, owner of AltCare Health Center. She should know. She has been practicing alternative therapies for over 25 years in the Oak Park area. A chiropractic physician, Haugh explains that light therapy has been around since Hippocrates. But with the development of laser technology, specific wavelengths of light can deliver accurate doses of energy directly to the treatment site.

The Oak Park Women's Exchange, evolving with the times
The Women's Exchange movement in America started in 1833 in Philadelphia.The first Exchange was created as a place where "gentlewomen in reduced circumstances" could supplement their family's incomes by selling handcrafted items. Today, the Federation of Women's Exchanges has 38 locations in 16 states.
