On Monday, October 8th the Infant Welfare Society sponsors of The Children's Clinic held a 'Handing over the Toothbrush' ceremony to mark the official date of transition of the Oral Health Director position. Jill Baskin, DDS, after 15 years of service, is handing over the leadership role to Lynse Briney, DDS MS.
Elizabeth Lippitt, Executive Director, thanked Dr. Baskin, "We greatly appreciate Dr. Baskin for her 'can do' attitude, great energy and willingness to network to promote the Infant Welfare Society Children's Clinic mission. Our clinic has grown to provide over 6,000 dental visits a year and seen many positive changes with her leadership. We are glad she will continue to still be at the clinic seeing clients and we welcome Dr. Briney as the new Oral Health Director."
Dr. Briney commented, "This is an amazing opportunity. I started at the clinic when I was a University of Illinois dental student doing my community rotation. I fell in love with the clinic's high standard of dental care and respect for the children it serves. I am proud to work at the clinic and strive to bring that high standard of care to all the children I treat. This is where my heart is."
The Children's Clinic provides health care to children emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. The Dental Clinic is one of the few resources for affordable pediatric dental care in our service area. The portable dentistry program and the oral health and nutrition workshops at area schools reached over 3,000 children last year. Behavioral health services are fully integrated with the medical care.
