Anastasiia Sevriukova, an 8th grade student at Brooks Middle School has been named a finalist in the 25th annual Lions Clubs International Peace Poster Contest. She was the winner of a local competition sponsored by the Oak Park-River Forest Lions Club.
Lions Clubs International is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Peace Poster contest, which was started to showcase the importance of world peace to young people everywhere. Sevriukova was among more than 400,000 students worldwide, ages 11-13, who submitted posters this year. Entries were judged for originality, artistic merit and portrayal of this year's contest theme, Imagine Peace.
Sevriukova's poster advanced through regional competitions, and will be judged in the international competition this week in Chicago, IL. The grand prize winner will be announced at the "Lions Day at the United Nations" event on February 1st in New York City.
One international grand prize winner and 23 merit award winners will be selected. The grand prize includes a cash award of $5,000, and 23 merit award winners will each receive a certificate and a cash award of $500.

Since 1917, Lions clubs have aided the blind and visually impaired and made a strong commitment to community service and serving youth throughout the world.
