Village Hall to close Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Oak Park Village Hall, 123 Madison St., will be closed on Mon., Jan. 21 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Regular business hours are 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Parking Services is open until 7 p.m. on Mondays other than holidays. Should an incident that doesn't quite rise to the level of a 9-1-1 emergency occur when Village Hall is closed, residents can call the Police Department non-emergency number 708.386.3800 for assistance. Seminars offer help to first-time homebuyers
Individuals interested in learning more about buying a home and securing a mortgage are invited to attend free seminars offered every month by the Oak Park Regional Housing Center. Seminars are held at 7 p.m., the fourth Tuesday of each month in Village Hall, 123 Madison St. The next seminar is Tues., Jan. 22. For more information, call 708.771.5801.
CPR classes offered
The Oak Park Fire Department offers a variety of life-saving classes including CPR and training in how to use an automated external defibrillator, or AED. Classes are held from 6 – 10 p.m. at the Department's certified American Heart Association community training center in the main fire station, 100 N. Euclid Ave. All courses are taught by an AHA-certified instructor. Most classes are $25 for Oak Park residents and $50 for non-residents, in addition to a $12 textbook fee. In-person registration at least two weeks prior to the date of the desired course is recommended. The 2013 class schedule is posted at www.oak-park.us/fire.
