The Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) announced recently that Diane Grimard Wilson, LCPC, of Oak Park, has become Board Certified in Neurofeedback. Wilson joins a prestigious group of professionals who have met the education, clinical and exam criteria required to be a certified provider of neurofeedback services.
Neurofeedback is a drug-free treatment where brain wave activity is recorded and modified while clients engage in computer games targeting corrective portions of the brain. Optimal brain function is the final goal. It is used in treating ADHD, peak performance, anxiety, traumatic brain injuries, addictions, migraines, seizures, and other disorders.
Wilson has been a practicing coach and counselor specializing in work and life issues since 1987. She began studying and training in neurofeedback in 2008 after a life changing experience. She suffered traumatic brain injury in an auto accident in 2005 and neurofeedback helped her make a full recovery.
"Neurofeedback is a powerful technology for issues where there haven't been good tools," Wilson says. "I have seen the direct benefits myself and am so grateful to have this training to help my clients. The certification process entailed lots of work but this is a very technical field. Board Certification by BCIA is the Gold Standard. I'm proud to have earned their certification."
Wilson is also the author of the critically acclaimed book Back in Control: How to Stay Sane, Productive, and Inspired in Your Career Transition. Back in Control guides job seekers through the difficult terrain of emotional unemployment.
